Is Lightning Skips An Environmentally Friendly Skip Bin Provider?

As we move towards a greener society, Lightning Skips commitment to the environment continuously increases.   Where feasible Lightning Skip’s segregate recyclable waste from the skip bin prior to the remaining waste going to landfill. Additionally Lightning Skips maintain a modern truck fleet utilizing SCR engine emission technology and ADR80/03 compliance – Euro 5 emission standard. Clean fill or hard fill waste are redirected to recycling facilities to be recycled into hard rubble for laying roads. Green waste skip bins are being redirected to landscaping facilities to be turned into mulch.

Can I arrange a skip bin to be delivered on a Weekend?

Lightning Skips are operational six (6) days a week and can deliver skip bins to you on Saturday (6:00am till 12:00pm). Please book your weekend deliveries in advance where possible.

Can I Pay By Credit Card?

Lightning Skips accepts payment with all major credit cards, including VISA, Mastercard, Unionpay, American Express and Paypal. A fee of 3% shall be added for all payment via American Express and Paypal. Lightning Skips also accept cash on delivery. If you prefer cash on delivery, complete the order form, and ensure someone will be home to pay for the delivery on the day. No payment, no skip.

How Much Notice Is Needed To Hire A Skip Bin?

Lightning Skips guarantees a 24 hour delivery turnaround – order today and the skip can be delivered tomorrow. Often Lightning Skips can deliver the same day if ordered prior to 12PM

How Long Can I Keep The Skip Bin For?

The standard time of hire for your skip bin is 7 days. Lightning Skips understands that not all the time you are able to fill your bin in 7 days, so if you would like to extend this for a further day or two, please contact us a day prior to collection and advise us. An extra charge of $10 per day will then be charged out, or $50 per week, whichever is the lessor.

Can I Get The Skip Bin Collected Earlier?

Yes, you can advise us that the skip bin is ready to collect by calling us a day before and Lightning Skips will book it in for collection.

Where Will Lightning Skips Place The Skip Bin?

Lightning Skips must place the bin on your property and not public land, roads or land that does not belong to you. You may approach your council for approval to place it on council land but Lightning Skips must sight the approval before leaving the bin on public land or the road. You will be responsible for insuring the public risk if you have your bin placed outside your property boundaries. Check with your Council for approval guidelines. To minimise any damage of the skip bin being placed on your driveway, Lightning Skips advise some wooden battens be placed down first. Overhead power lines and structures such as car ports can limit where Lightning Skips can safely place the skip. Lightning Skips suggest you take the advice of the driver on skip bin placement.

How Can I Estimate What Size Skip Bin Is Required?

To estimate the size of skip bin you need, work out your volume like this:
Length x Width x Height
= 1.8m x 1.6m x 1.3m
= approx. 3.7m

What Items Are Not Allowed To Be Placed In Our Skip Bins?

To What Level Can I Fill The Skip Bin?

Our skip bins can be filled up to the top rail, no materials protruding over the top of the skip. Overloaded bins are dangerous and create Occupational Health and Safety concerns for Lightning Skips employees and the general public. Lightning Skips must comply with Department of Motor Transport and EPA rules and regulations.

A $50.00 call out fee applies if we are scheduled to collect the skip and it is overflowing and we cannot safely take the skip away.  We have to reschedule a time to come back out.  The charge is to cover the drivers lost time and fuel.

What Happens If I Overload The Skip Bin?

Lightning Skips can only remove skips that are filled level to the top of the bin with no materials protruding. If the skip bin is overloaded, Lightning Skips will arrange for an additional bin to be delivered (at the customers cost) and the customer will be asked to unload the excess waste that is protruding.

Can I Move The Skip Bin?

NO! Once placed the bin cannot be moved, if moved when it is empty, once filled you will not be able to move it back and the truck may not be able to get to it to pick it up again. If you choose to move the skip bin any damage done to the bin or property will be paid for by the hirer.

Am I Locked In To The Confirmed Delivery And Collection Dates?

You can call us to amend any delivery or collection details any time up to 4pm prior to the delivery date.  If the skip you ordered is down for delivery the next day a $50.00 cancellation fee applies for any cancellation past 4pm. The cancellation fee covers the drivers time at transfer station organising the skips that need to go out the next day.  This is purely to cover lost time.
